Upper Air Weather Observation

Upper Air Weather Observation is a historical manuscript collection of records archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The major parameters in this collection are temperature, pressure, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, and height of levels. Data have been collected from 1934 to the present. Ships are not on the microfiche. Recent upper air data is available in NCDC's modern digital data sets, of which U.S. Rawinsonde CARDS, DSI-6301 (C00415) is one.

    • 2015-04-22T00:00:00 - NOAA created the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by merging NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), including the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC), per the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, Public Law 113-235. NCEI launched publicly on April 22, 2015.
