Ship data collected along the track during R/V Edwin Link cruises EL9904 and EL9905 in the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank as part of the U.S. GLOBEC program in 1999 (NCEI Accession 0104394)
This dataset contains meteorological, optical, and physical data collected on R/V Edwin Link during cruises EL9904 and EL9905 in the North Atlantic Ocean from 1999-01-01 to 1999-12-31. These data include SST at 5m, air temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, radiation_l, radiation_s, and salinity calculated from CTD primary sensors. The instruments used to collect these data include Thermosalinograph. These data were collected by Peter C. Smith of Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Karen Fisher of Cornell University, and James P. Manning of Northeast Fisheries Science Center - Woods Hole as part of the "U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank (GB)" project and "U.S. GLOBal ocean ECosystems dynamics (U.S. GLOBEC)" program. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2019-10-28.
The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:
Alongtrack ship data from the Edwin Link GLOBEC Georges Bank cruises, 1999
Dataset Description:
Edwin Link Cruises: 9904 and 9905
Shipboard meteorology and sea surface measurements
along the ship's track
Data submitted by: James Manning National Marine Fisheries Service, NEFC Woods Hole, MA 02543
voice: 508-495-2211 fax: 508-495-2258 email:
Note: Karen Fisher (Cornell Univ.) played the major role in processing our EDWIN LINK alongtrack data. I have simply modified and executed her Perl routines to comply with GLOBEC standards. Very little cleaning of the raw data was conducted (Jan 2000 Jim Manning).
