Purpose These data were collected as part of OSNAP, an international project whose overarching goals are to: O1. Quantify the subpolar Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) and its intra-seasonal to interannual variability via overturning metrics, including associated fluxes of heat and freshwater. O2. Determine the pathways of overflow waters in the to investigate the connectivity of the deep boundary current system. O3. Relate AMOC variability to deep water mass variability and basin-scale wind forcing.

  • Parameter or Variable: TEMPERATURE - WATER [WATER TEMPERATURE] (measured); Units: degrees Celsius; Observation Category: in situ; Sampling Instrument: Seabird 37 SM Microcat CTD; Sampling and Analyzing Method: Data collected before and after the instrument was deployed in the water were removed. Any spikes in data were replaced with NaNs..
  • Parameter or Variable: SALINITY (calculated); Units: practical salinity unit; Observation Category: in situ; Sampling Instrument: Seabird 37SM Microcat CTD; Sampling and Analyzing Method: Data collected before and after the instrument was deployed in the water were removed. Any spikes in data were replaced with NaNs. Uncorrectabe drifts in the salinity were replaced with NaNs..
  • Parameter or Variable: PRESSURE - WATER [HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE] (measured); Units: decibar; Observation Category: in situ; Sampling Instrument: Seabird 37SM Microcat CTD; Sampling and Analyzing Method: Data collected before and after the instrument was deployed in the water were removed. Any spikes in data were replaced with NaNs..
  • Parameter or Variable: CONDUCTIVITY (measured); Units: S/m; Observation Category: in situ; Sampling Instrument: Seabird 37SM Microcat CTD; Sampling and Analyzing Method: Data collected before and after the instrument was deployed in the water were removed. Any spikes in data were replaced with NaNs..
  • Parameter or Variable: CURRENT METER - NORTH-SOUTH COMPONENT (V) (measured); Units: m/s; Observation Category: in situ; Sampling Instrument: RDI Workhorse Long Ranger 75 kHz; Sampling and Analyzing Method: ADCPs were deployed to measure velocities in the upper water column in the OSNAP array at 60 minute intervals.; Data Quality Method: Data manually reviewed. Excludes bins affected by seafloor interference and side lobes. Magnetic variation has been applied to each ensemble.
