Meteorological, physical, and time series data collected from station aws_himb by Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology and assembled by Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) in the North Pacific Ocean from 2005-01-01 to 2022-12-31 (NCEI Accession 0208370)
This dataset contains meteorological, physical, and time series data in netCDF formatted files, which follow the Climate and Forecast metadata convention (CF) and the Attribute Convention for Data Discovery (ACDD). Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology collected the data from their in-situ moored station named aws_himb: HIMB Weather Station: Moku o Loe (Coconut Island), Oahu, Hawaii, in the North Pacific Ocean. PacIOOS, which assembles data from Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology and other sub-regional coastal and ocean observing systems of the U.S. Pacific Islands, submitted the data to NCEI as part of the Integrated Ocean Observing System Data Assembly Centers (IOOS DACs) Data Stewardship Program. Each month, NCEI adds to this dataset the data collected during the previous month.
The Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB) automatic weather station (AWS) records hourly measurements of precipitation, air temperature, wind speed and direction, and irradiance. Sensors include an Eppley 295-385 nm ultraviolet (UV) radiometer, a LiCor 200SZ Pyranometer, and a LiCor Quantameter (400-700 nm). The sensors are located on the roof of HIMB's Coral Reef Ecology Laboratory (Point Lab) on Moku o Loe (Coconut Island) in Kaneohe Bay on the windward (eastern) coast of Oahu in Hawaii. An accompanying sea water temperature sensor is located less than 10 m offshore of the weather station at a shallow depth of approximately 1 m.
