Low resolution real-time physical trajectory profile data from glider um_242 deployed by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; Center for Ocean Observing Leadership (RU COOL) and UMaine (UMO) in the Gulf of Maine from 2021-06-30 to 2021-07-21 (NCEI Accession 0250439)
This project is conducting seasonal deployments to investigate carbonate chemistry and monitor ocean acidification in the Mid-Atlantic Bight. The glider used for the automated observation includes an integrated deep rated version of the Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistor (ISFET)-based pH sensor. The pH sensor unit is complemented with existing glider sensors including a CTD, a WETLabs FLBBCD ECO puck configured for simultaneous chlorophyll fluorescence and optical backscatter measurements, and an Aanderaa Optode for measuring dissolved oxygen. This approximately 21 to 30 day deployment out of Tuckerton, NJ will run a cross-shelf transect (along E line) to an offshore waypoint north of Carteret Canyon, then transect SSW to Wilmington Canyon, then NW back to Tuckerton, NJ as the battery pack allows. This glider track will cover Atlantic sea scallop and Atlantic surfclam habitats in the southern MAB. The real-time dataset contains CTD, chlorophyll a, CDOM and optical backscatter measurements. Dissolved oxygen and pH data will be processed post-deployment.
The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this dataset from the Integrated Ocean Observing System's National Glider Data Assembly Center (IOOS NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation. Data files may be either low resolution real-time or full resolution. Full resolution files are designated as "delayed" in the netCDF file name.
