| Abstract: | This data set contains meteorological and oceanographic information collected from the Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System (GoMOOS) Moored Buoy A on Massachusetts Bay, southeast of Gloucester, MA. Mooring A is located in a water depth of 65 meters (213 feet). Buoy A was originally deployed on July 10, 2001 and has undergone five subsequent re-deployments. Buoy deployment data sets A0101 through A0106 have collectively reported hourly meteorologic and oceanographic data including air temperature, wind speed, wind gust, wind direction, visibility, wave height, wave period, dissolved oxygen, water temperature, salinity, density, current speed, and current direction. Meteorological data generally are collected at 3 m (temperature and visibility) and 4 m (winds). Oceanographic properties are measured at depths of 1, 20, and 50m. Data gaps can occur. Note: This is a trial Accession for NODC's GoMOOS data archiving pilot project. |
