 [processing]

The calibrated irradiances were calculated from the raw
measurements using the appropriate calibration file as discussed
 in the format document.

The remaining processing that was done to the data was as
 follows:

    * saturated irradiances were removed from the data set
    * data from approximately 1720 PST on May 13 1997 (day 133)
until the end of the data set for the first deployment in
1997 (May 15 1997, day 135) appeared unreliable and were
      removed.
    * data from between the start of the first deployment and day
60 in the Ed670 and Ed683 data sets appeared unreliable and
were removed (the data indicated zero irradiance at these
      wavelengths in this period).
    * one anomalous data point on day 140 1997 (at 8:33 am local
      time) was removed
    * data were removed from between day 260 1997 (September 17)
until the end of the second deployment in 1997 because of
indications of biofouling (the shorter wavelength
irradiances showed a sharp decrease, while the longer
wavelength irradiances (Ed670 and Ed683) showed an
      increase).
    * pre- and post-deployment data were removed from the start
and end of the sixth deployment data set. Timestamps in
this data set were corrected by adding 6 days and 2.2 hours
to the timestamps (see the document that accompanies the
      data).

These data processing notes are also found in the documents that
 accompany the data.
