Ship (station) name: R/V "M.Lomonosov" (MHI, Sevastopol)
Expedition: cruise number 38, September, 1979.
Parameters: depth, temperature (T), phosphate (PO4),
oxygen (O2), particulate organic carbon (POC),
            chlorophyll"a" (chl"a"), attennuation coefficient (E).
Instruments and methods: Depth, temperature, salinity were measured
with a bathysonde "Istok".
Samples for PO4 and O2 were collected from the
most sampled depths. The concentrations of PO4 and O2 were determined
by the methods of Grasshoff (1976). Samples for particulate organic
carbon were filtered onto precombusted 25 mm Whatman GF/C filters.
Filters were analysed by combustion in a CHN-analyzer. For measurement
of chlorophyll"a" 3-5 l water was filtered through Whatman GF/C glass
fiber filters. Determination of chlorophyll was carried out soon after
sampling on board. The analysis followed the spectrophotometric method
(UNESCO, 1966). Diffuse attenuation coefficient was measured with a
submersible quantum sensor of the spectrum at 480 nm. The sensor has a
cosine collector, a colour filter and a selenium element.
 Accuracy: The error of: depth -  +-1 dbar;
                        temperature - +-0,01 grad C
                        salinity - +-0,03 %o
                        P-PO4 - +-0,05 mkM
                        O2 - +-1 mkM
                        POC - +-5%
                        chlorophyll"a" - +-0,01 mg/m^3
                        Attenuation coefficient - +-0,01 m^-1
