about/
This directory contains files generated by NODC with ancillary information
about the data submission.

0086627_lonlat.txt -
  Contains sample locations for these data. Each row contains the
  geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in the
  left column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees).

0086627_map.jpg -
  Sample location map for these data.

FGDC-NDBC_CMANWx-2012-02.xml -
  Metadata record for the archived data, in Federal Geographic Data
  Committee (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata
  (FGDC-STD-001-1998) XML format.

dirinfo.txt -
  A text file, which contains the year/month of data collection, to
  facilitate NODC's online dissemination of this data set.

data/0-data/
This directory contains the data information files as NDBC submitted them
to NODC. The file naming conventions for these files are as follows:

Data from C-MAN and moored buoys (except for ADCP):
NDBC_<WMO ID>_YYYYMM_D<DEPLOYMENT NUMBER>_v<VERSION NUMBER>.nc

ADCP data from moored buoys:
NDBC_<WMO ID>_YYYYMM_D<DEPLOYMENT NUMBER>_adcp_v<VERSION NUMBER>.nc

Information about the processing of the data:
NDBC_<WMO ID>_YYYYMM_D<DEPLOYMENT NUMBER>_history.txt

where <WMO ID> = 5-character alpha-numeric string, which the World
Meteorological Organization assigned, to identify C-MAN stations and moored
buoys; YYYYMM = numeric year and month that NDBC collected the data;
<DEPLOYMENT NUMBER> = unique number assigned to specific station
configuration, sequentially assigned by the NDBC database system (lower
number = older configuration and a higher number = a newer configuration);
<VERSION NUMBER> = two-digit number that NDBC uses to track their version of
the data, starting with 00; .nc = netCDF (version 4) file extension; and
.txt = ASCII/text file extension.
