Source: The data files were sent to NCEI by the National Data Buoy Center
(NDBC) on a portable hard disk.

Actions: The data files were validated against the accompanying manifest.
The data files were renamed by an automated process, and some reorganization
of the data files in their directory structure may have been performed, in
order to meet the standard file naming requirements as documented in the
submission agreement between NCEI and NDBC. NCEI converted the files from
netCDF-3 classic to netCDF-4, to meet the file format requirements as
documented in the submission agreement (these converted files will differ
from the files starting in January 2015 in that NDBC uses the netCDF API to
specify "contiguous" storage for the "lat" and "lon" variables and then
chunking/compressing the "u" and "v" variables; those parameters cannot be
specified when using the "nccopy -d6" command to convert the files). The files
were then copied to the data/0-data directory of this accession by an automated
process. The automated process also extracted metadata to provide additional
documentation in the ISO collection record for this accession.

Files:

about/
This directory contains files generated by NCEI with ancillary information
about the data submission.

0182927_lonlat.txt -
  Contains station locations for these data. Each row contains the
  geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in the
  left column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees).

0182927_map.jpg -
  Station location map for these data.

data/0-data/
This directory contains the data files as submitted to NCEI. The file naming
conventions for these files are as follows:

YYYYMMDDHHmm_hfr_<region>_<resolution>_rtv_uwls_<dac>.nc

where YYYYMMDDHHmm = numeric year, month, day, hour and minute data
collection started; hfr = high frequency radar; <region> = abbreviation of
region from which data are collected (usegc = Eastern US and Gulf of Mexico,
prvi = Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands, uswc = US West Coast, ushi = US Hawaii,
gak = Gulf of Alaska and akns = North Slope Alaska); <resolution> = data
resolution (m = meters and km = kilometers); rtv = real-time-velocities;
uwls = unweighted least squares; <dac> = data assembly center (NDBC =
National Data Buoy Center, SIO = Scripps Institution of Oceanography); and
.nc = netCDF file extension.
