Hi Ricardo,

Please find attached a zip file containing the CTD data from JR11 and
JR17. There are 120 CTD profiles in total. Also included is some
documentation about calibrations for JR17. We do not seem to have the
equivalent information for JR11.

I have looked at the BAS web site, a summary of their data can be found
at:

www.antarctica.ac.uk/aedc/basdata/basdata.html then look under 'Marine
Biology', 'Geophysics' may also be of use - although the quality of
information is variable.

I have two contact names for BAS CTD data, they are: Eugene Murphy
(programme leader, e-mail: ejmu@bas.ac.uk) and Nathan Cunningham (data
manager, e-mail: n.cunningham@bas.ac.uk)

Do you want me to chase them up or will you contact them yourself?
Please let me know.

Best regards,
Lesley

Hello Lesley,

Sincere thanks for your reply and for taking the time to look
into my
request.

JR11 is actually one of the cruises I have seen used in the
literature
(Brandon et al., 1999, Continental Shelf Research, 19, 799-819). This
paper mentions CTD data, as well as data from bottle samples and a
towed
NvShuttle. There seems to be quite a bit of data collected around
South
Georgia in the last decade, and unfortunately, we do not have them. I
very much appreciate your help in contacting BAS and tracking these
data
sets.

In the meantime, I would be happy to receive the CTD data for
cruises
JR11 and JR17. Please, I can download them directly from your ftp
site,
or if you want you can put them in pub/incoming by ftp'ing to
ftp.nodc.noaa.gov. I will not be around tomorrow, Friday 11th, so
that
if you want to wait until next week, that would be allright.

        Again, many thanks. Best wishes,

Ricardo
