Hi Chris,

Several times when you've visited you've talked with me about archiving
the data from our pressure-equipped inverted echo sounder (PIES) and
current-and-pressure-equipped inverted echo sounder (CPIES) moorings
from our various projects, and I've been putting you off because I had
not really settled on a format for uploading and archiving the data.

I think we've finally come up with a reasonable format, so we've put
together a the data from our two projects that collect PIES & CPIES
data. To date there have been 3 PIES records collected by our
"Southwest Atlantic MOC project" ("SAM"), and 14 PIES & CPIES records
collected as part of our "Western Boundary Time Series" ("WBTS")
project. You're already archiving some of the data from our WBTS
project, so this PIES/CPIES data will be just a new addition to that
archive. I believe this will be the first data you archive for our
SAM project, so that will be a new archive.

I've placed two gzipped tar-file archives on my anonymous ftp site for
you to grab. If I don't typo the links, you should be able to just
click below:

 SAM project

ftp://ftp.aoml.noaa.gov/phod/pub/meinen/IES_data/SAM_PIESCPIES_data.tar.gz

  WBTS project

ftp://ftp.aoml.noaa.gov/phod/pub/meinen/IES_data/WBTS_PIESCPIES_data.tar.gz

Within each tar there are directories for each recovered instrument.
Inside each subdirectory you will find a readme file that explains
the project and what is in the directory, the processed data file in
an ASCII format, and a "raw" directory that contains the files that
were directly recorded by the instrument so that folks can reprocess
them on their own if they so wish to do so differently than how we
have done it.

Please let me know if/when you have time to work on this and if/when
you have questions.

Cheers,

Chris
