Dear Francis,

Attached is are 2 zip files containing CTD data acquired during the 2003

season by the NOAA Ship THOMAS JEFFERSON and its launches.

The 2 files are:
LITTLEHALES_2003.zip  containing 83 files.
THOMASJEFFERSON_2003.zip containing 168 files

Please note that the NOAA Ship WHITING was decommissioned and replaced
by a ship acquired from the U.S. Navy named the LITTLEHALES. Then, last
summer, the LITTLEHALES was renamed the THOMAS JEFFERSON.

I was not sure if you wanted to just attribute all the files to the
THOMAS JEFFERSON so I am submitting the data in 2 different zip files.
But both names represent the same vessel and it's 2 launches.

LITTLEHALES
Start date: 2003-Feb-06
End date:  2003-Jun-29

THOMAS JEFFERSON
Start date: 2003-Aug-06
End date:  2003-Nov-05

These data are from THOMAS JEFFERSON surveys for updating U. S.
Government Navigational Charts.
Principal investigator: Commanding Officer, NOAA Ship THOMAS JEFFERSON.

The data were collected using a Sea-Bird SBE 19 SEACAT profiler.
Each file is in the WHOI CTD Exchange Format.

The filenames have format YYDDDHHM.ssA where

YY = 2 digit year
DDD = day-of-year
HH = hour of day (UTC)
M = first digit of the minutes of the hour
ss = ship code (LH = ship, L2 is launch #2, TJ = ship, T1 and T2 are
launches #1 and #2.
A indicates "archive" file

Thanks,
Ruby
