Dear Alex,

I am a PhD student in McGill University and am contacting you because I would like to upload a small dataset on OCADS.

I just had a paper accepted for publication in PNAS about anthropogenic calcite dissolution at the seafloor and the journal requests the data to be deposited in a publicly available repository before publication. Bob (cc’ed) is a co-author on the study and suggested that I get in touch with you to upload this on OCADS. I attach to this email the preprint and the dataset in both .mat and .nc version.

The data files contain the following variables:

    Bottom-current speed
    Calcite fraction in surface sediments
CO3 water-side mass transfer coefficient (beta)
CO3 sediment-side mass transfer coefficient (ks)
    CO3 overall mass-transfer coefficient
    Diffusive boundary layer thickness
Preindustrial and current calcite dissolution rate at the seafloor (the main result of the study)
Preindustrial and current calcite compensation depth

I figured how to indicate the units for each variable in the .nc file but for the .mat file, it could be good to have a little “read me” text file on the side. Please let me know what is needed.

I am not very familiar to the OCADS website so I let you figure out in which category this dataset fits the best.

The manuscript is currently at the proof-reviewing stage, and I have to indicate somewhere in the manuscript where will the dataset be available online. I guess having an URL in the manuscript directing to the category of the OCADS website where the dataset is would be ideal. Could you please let me know how can I refer to the dataset location within the manuscript? They want the proof back asap so I will try to be quick responding to you. Let me know if you need anything.

Best regards,

Olivier
