Dear Madalyn Newman,

Thank you for your kind suggestions.

I wrote my comments below each of your suggestions (comments/suggestions kept in italic, our response in normal lettering)

1) Update the title to: "Particle flux and net primary production collected from R/V ONNURI of Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) in the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean from 2003-07-01 to 2013-07-31"

: I agree.

2)Add a description of the data files in your package to the abstract section: "This dataset includes a single .xlsx file containing all data collected from a single station over a ten year time period. We examined the composition and flux of particles sinking to the deep Eastern Tropical Pacific from 2003 to 2013. We observed that the flux of particulate organic and inorganic carbon to a depth of 4,950 m increased as the climate variability called the “Pacific Decadal Oscillation” shifted from a positive to negative phase (i.e., more La Niña events) in 2008."

: I want to add a sentence to the abstract as followings;

"This dataset includes a single .csv file containing all data collected from a single station over a ten year time period. We examined the composition and flux of particles sinking to the deep Eastern Tropical Pacific from 2003 to 2013. Total particle flux data exhibited a unimodal seasonal pattern, with high fluxes in winter–spring and low values in summer–fall. We observed that the flux of particulate organic and inorganic carbon to a depth of 4,950 m increased as the climate variability called the “Pacific Decadal Oscillation” shifted from a positive to negative phase (i.e., more La Niña events) in 2008."

3) I will convert the .xlsx file to a .csv file as this is the preferred format for archival at NCEI.

: I agree. Thank you.

4) Once the paper you mentioned in the reference section is accepted and published, you can send me an email with this information to be added as a metadata cross-reference in your data package.

We just need a record of your request for changes because that email will be archived with the package.

Please let me know if you have any questions and comments.

Many thanks.

Good Afternoon,

I am the data manager looking over your data submission through S2N at NCEI titled "Particle flux and Net Primary Production collected from R/V ONNURI of KIOST in Eastern Tropical Pacific from 2003-07-01 to 2013-07-31." I have a few suggestions about your submission:

1) Update the title to: "Particle flux and net primary production collected from R/V ONNURI of Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) in the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean from 2003-07-01 to 2013-07-31"

2)Add a description of the data files in your package to the abstract section: "This dataset includes a single .csv file containing all data collected from a single station over a ten year time period.

4) Once the paper you mentioned in the reference section is accepted and published, you can send me an email with this information to be added as a metadata cross-reference in your data package.

Please feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks,
