Hi Rebecca,

Below you will see responses to your feedback and I have attached our updated dataset!

Title -

- Could we alter the Title to reference the coral survivorship data included in the package? Something like "Implementing the Florida Keys Coral Disease Response & Restoration Initiative: Number of coral outplants and survivorship by species..."? Please provide your own Title if you would like, I am open to suggestions!

Implementing the Florida Keys Coral Disease Response & Restoration Initiative: Number of coral outplants and survivorship by species in 2021

Start/Ends Dates for the Package -

- The earliest date I found in your data was 2021-01-27, and the latest date was 2022-07-07. Can I change the start and end dates of your data package to reflect this? The dates would also be changed in the Title and the Abstract.

It would be preferred to go off of the outplant date for reference, instead of monitoring dates, as this is how our 2020 data repository that was accepted is structured. This would keep all dates under 2021 to not confuse the monitoring dates that are also tracked. But, if this is what you prefer, then we can adjust this accordingly

Abstract -

- Along the same line as above, it may make sense to edit the Abstract to say something along the lines of "These corals were outplanted in 2021 during the second year of the initiative by Mote Marine Laboratory, in the Florida Keys" as they were all outplanted during 2021, but not all of the data included is from 2021 as the survivorship data goes into 2022. I would also recommend referencing the survivorship data in the first sentence describing the dataset, something as simple as, "This dataset consists of spreadsheets containing over 10,000 coral outplants and their survivorship over time,..." . This would give a better sense of what is actually included in this dataset! If you could send me an updated version of your abstract via email that would be much appreciated!

This dataset consist of a spreadsheet containing 10,000 coral outplants and the survivorship over time, including but not limited to species Acropora cervicornis, Acropora palmata, Orbicella faveolata, Pseudodiploria clivosa and Montastraea cavernosa. These corals were outplanted
under the second year of the initiative by Mote Marine Laboratory, from 2021-01-01 to 2021-12-31 located in the Florida Keys. Mote Marine Laboratory continues to monitor each outplant one month post-outplant event, one year, three year and 5 years to monitor the
survivorship of corals over time. As these coral species were outplanted in 2021, not all of the data included is from 2021 as the survivorship data goes into 2022.

Excel Workbook Tabs -

- It is not intuitive what coral species or groupings you are referencing with the sheet/tab names in the Excel workbook, nor what in-situ and ex-situ mean in this context (perhaps the origin of the colony the coral fragment is from?). Could you elaborate on this perhaps in your Data Dictionary section in each tab so that a future data user will know what they are looking at in each tab, and why they are separated or grouped in this way?

Details added to data dictionary!

"Ex-situ Apal outplants" Tab -

- "Site ID" column - several of the site IDs have links that take you to locked google spreadsheet. Could you please remove the hyperlinks?
Done

- " # plugs" column - I believe this should be "# frags"? If not, could you edit the associated dictionary to reference plugs (and define what they are)?
Done

- "Tag #'s" column - Could you elaborate on what "no tags, (mapped)" means in your data dictionary? Also, in the cells with "no tags, (mapped)" there are associated comments with various notes and coordinates to several reef sites. Seeing as the Lat and Long columns for these rows are empty, could you populate them with the appropriate coordinates, and remove the comments from the cells?
Done

- "% Plots with Partial Mortality" column - two cells in this column are populated with "#DIV/0!", though I do not see a formula associated with them that may cause the issue. Could you please edit these two cells to contain the correct values?
Done

- "12-Month Monitoring" column - One cell is populated with "ICARE" instead of N/A or a blank. If this is significant could you describe it in the data dictionary? If it is not, I would suggest removing it so as to not cause confusion.
Done

"Ex-situ Massive outplants" tab -

- "Site ID" column - 3 of the site IDs have links that take you to locked google spreadsheet. Could you please remove the hyperlinks?
Done

- " # plugs" column - I believe this should be "# frags"? If not, could you edit the associated dictionary to reference plugs (and define what they are)? You reference plugs in the species columns descriptions as well as a note, so if changed to "frag" in this column's description please make sure to change it there as well.
Done

- Species columns - Could you please write out the full species names in the Data Dictionary description for these columns? Also, in the first series of species columns "DLAB" is not listed, but in the second series (after the 1-month survival data) it is, and has two cells populated with survivorship data. Could you fix this discrepancy by perhaps adding a "DLAB" column in the first series and populating it with the associated data (aka the number of frags of this species outplanted)?
Done!

12-Month Survival / 3-year / 5-year Monitoring -
- You note in the data dictionary for each tab that cells blanks or N/A refer to outplants that had not reached the 12-month mark to monitor yet (along with 3- and 5-year Monitoring), and that you will add data as it becomes available. This is just a note to let you know that once you acquire that data, you can email us with the updated data file and a request to update the data accession.

Correct!

Grant number -

- Was this by any chance funded by NOAA's Coral Reef Conservation Program? If so, could you provide the grant number? We like to include that information in the data package metadata.
NOAA grant number NA19NMF4630259.

Thank you again for your assistance and please let me know if you have any follow up questions.

Best regards,
Stephanie
