#TITLE:
Deep Profiles of Temperature, Salinity, Oxygen Saturation, and Flourescence
Data from 12 Select R/V Oscar Elton Sette Cruises in the Northwest Hawaiian
Islands 2003-2007

#ABSTRACT:
The Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, part of the National Marine
Fisheries Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),
conducted cruises in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands on the R/V Oscar Elton
Sette during 2003-2007. 12 select cruises are included in this batch.
Finalized data include the profiles of temperature, salinity, oxygen saturation,
and fluorescense. Most hydrocast stations are near atolls and islands. These
are referred to as deep profiles and mostly reach to 500 m.

#PURPOSE:
Understand the physical characteristics for better interpretation
of ecosystem dynamics.

#PARAMETERS:
depth (dbars)
temperature (celcius)
salinity (psu)
oxygen saturation (mL/L)
fluorescence, Seapoint

Standard hydrocasts. These data have been calibrated, processed,
and quality controlled by NOAA/NMFS/CRED

#INSTRUMENT TYPES:
Seabird SBE, Fluorometer (Seapoint)

#REFERENCES:
none

#SUBMITTING MEDIUM:
ASCII text files, MS Excel spreadsheets, via FTP

#DIRECTORY ORGANIZATION, FILE NAMES AND FORMATS:
Directory 0-data: files as provided by the originator

1) Directory organization
   /OESyycc : a directory for each cruise, yy:year cc:sequential
     /processed :all finalized files here

2) Filenaming convention and formats
FILENAME COMMENT
xxxxxxx.cnv Final profile data; filename varies, extention always "cnv".
Typically the filename has a sequence number or place name
               to denote the cast.
               ASCII format, Self-description header information
xxxxxxx.XLS Cast Logs, MS Excel format

Directory 1-data: files created by NODC
*ASCII CSV redundant copies were made for any cruise that
   included Excel spreadsheets.
   /OESyycc : a directory for cruise, yy:year cc:sequential
     /processed :all finalized files here
FILENAME COMMENT
xxxxxxx.csv Same name as used for Excel spreadsheet-- only the
extension was changed. When multiple sheets per
Excel file, multiple CSV files were made.
