Hi Steve,

This email is a first test our new system for submitting data from BCO-DMO for archive at NODC. The plan for now is to send you email with an attached .tar file, but we would prefer to send the email (without attachments) and use ftp for the file transfer (either put or get depending on your options).

so here goes ...

I am submitting some new data from the BCO-DMO database for archive at NODC. The attached .tar file "OCB_EDDIES_HPLC_pigments_OC.tar" contains 3 files:

The ".xml" file is a FGDC compliant metadata record for this submission.

The ".htm" file is a copy of the metadata file as it appears in our BCO-DMO database. It is a complete web page with active links, but is simply an HTML version of the same metadata described in the XML formatted file.

The ".csv" file is all the data, comma-separated, with the first line being the field names, also comma-separated. The metadata contains a complete description of these field names.

There is an MD5 checksum file for the tar ball; we are still working on the MD5 summary file that accompany future submissions.

These data are real and should be archived at NODC. But this also represents a start at working out an efficient system we can use to archive the BCO-DMO data at NODC. We are open to suggestions for ways to improve.

Cheers,
Cyndy
