These directories contain databases for the
International Arctic Buoy Program, which was previously
known as the Coordinated Arctic Buoy Program.

These data are described in our Buoy Reports which
can be obtained by contacting us.

Preliminary releases of the 1999-2000 data are starting
to appear in these subdirectories. I am confident that
there are not any major glitches in the processing, but
have not fully checked the data yet, plus more data is
being incorporated, so these databases will change for
these years.

All datafiles are compressed (using the GNU utilities
gzip/gunzip). If you do not have a way to uncompress,
send email and we can uncompress the file for you before
the transfer. Files are roughly 4 times larger uncompressed.

1.0	Connecting by anonymous FTP:

   ftp iabp.apl.washington.edu
		   -or-
   ftp 128.208.79.113

   login: anonymous

2.0	To pick up data once in FTP:

cd pub/IABP

To actually move files to your machine use the ftp command
get or mget. Some data files will require a binary mode
ftp get. On Unix to Unix file transfers it is more
efficient to use binary mode even if the file is an ascii
file. This is particulary useful when transferring large
files.
