- Variable:
- Variable Name: mon/day/yr
- Description of Variable: Date in the format mon/day/yr
- Method Description:
- Equilibrator Design:
- Equilibrator type: showerhead Weiss equilibrator
- Equilibrator volume:volume of ~30 L with a headspace of ~16 L
- Water_Flow_Rate: 12-15 L/min
- Headspace_Gas_Flow_Rate:120-130 mL/min
- Vented: Yes
- Measurement Method: gas chromatography; CO2 is catalytically reduced to methane, which is detected by a flame-ionization detector (FID)
- Manufacturer of Calibration Gas: Messer-Griesheim
- C02 Sensors:
- Manufacturer: Shimadzu GC/FID
- Model:
- Environmental Control:
- Resolution:
- Uncertainty: The accuracy of the entire system was better than 0.5 ppmV for xCO2atm and 1.0 ppmV for xCO2sw.
- Calibration:
Two CO2 standards of 257 and 345 ppmV CO2 provided from Messer-Griesheim were used to calibrate the system during the cruise (once a day). The reproducibility (1σ) of the measurements was less than ±0.4 ppmV as determined from multiple injections of the calibration gases.

- Additional Information:
The calculation for the fugacity at SST involves a temperature correction term (Takahashi et al.,1993) for the increase of fCO2 due to heating of the water from passing through the pump and tubing within the ship. The water in the equilibrator was typically 0.5 °C warmer than sea surface temperature.
