Source: Oleg Sochnev, Murmansk Marine Biological Institute (MMBI), of Academy of
Sciences. Data received during OCL staff visit to MMBI in November 1995
Original data on three 3-1/2 diskettes. Diskettes stores in the NODC Data
Repository (SSMC-3, Room 4749)

Version2.2: This version of NODC accession 9700240 includes the first email
(0-email.txt) correspondence initiating collaboration with MMBI and NODC, and
two cruise information files (read_me_1, read_me_2). The cruise information
files were added to data/0-data/.

Actions: Renamed 0-email.pdf to 1-email.pdf based on chronological order.
Copied 0-email.txt to about/. Copied read_me_1 and read_me_2 to data/0-data/.

about/
This directory contains files created by NODC staff, email correspondence,
and other 'negotiable' information between NODC staff and the data provider.

9700240_lonlat.txt - Contains sample locations for these data. Each row
contains the geographical position where these data were collected (longitude
in the left column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees). NODC
may have corrected geographic positions that seemed to be in error when
generating this file. However, NODC did not change the original data files
  under the directory data/0-data/.

9700240_map.jpg - Sample location map for these data.

0-email.txt - E-mail from MMBI describing data files (vessel, cruise ID, total
  stations, parameters).

1-email.pdf - E-mail from personnel notifying NODC that they sent their data to
the NODC via hand-delivered diskettes. Data format is included in this email.

data/0-data/
This directory contains the data files as submitted to NODC.

Files read_me_1, and read_me_2 are not the only files in data/0-data/ but are
new for version 2.2 of journal.txt .

read_me_1 - Cruise information for all cruises dated 1901 through 1993. This
text file may not pertain to this accession, however, it was included in the
  initial package received from MMBI.

read_me_2 - Barents Sea expedition covered in summer and autumn 1984, 16
cruises. This text file may not pertain to this accession, however, it was
included in the initial package received from MMBI.
