Dr. M. Madhupratap is Senior Scientist, presently working in Biological Oceanography Division.
He holds Doctorate degree from Cochin University in Biological Oceanography, while he stood First in M.Sc.,Marine Science from Annamalai University in 1971.
He has wide range of experience in Research and Administration in Oceanography. He has done specialisation in Biogeochemical Cycling, zooplankton phytoplankton and microbial ecology taxonomy and evolution. He was a National Co-ordinator for JGOFS - India (Joint Global Ocean Flux Studies) and also responsible for international liason, with USA, France, Netherlands, UK and Germany. Besides this wide knowledge of handling Grant - in Aid and sponsored programmes.
He has also worked in estuaries, coastal and open ocean waters, enclosed seas (Japan) fjords (Germany) and coral lagoons (Laccadives).
Holds extensive shipboard experience (more than 40 cruises, many of them as chief scientist) and in collecting data using sophisticated equipments.
Was also involved in primary production, secondary production, food chain, microbial loop and fishery oceanography. Familiar in analysing biological data in conjunction with physical and chemical data.
He recognised as Ph. D. guide by Goa University and has considerable experience in training Research Students
