Research Experience of Mr. Mangesh U. Gauns

Brief report of Research Experience:

Collection and analysis of parameters like In_situ measurements of Primary Production using 14C technique; determination of New Production by 15N; Phytoplankton identification, enumeration and maintenance of their culture in the laboratory; Chlorophyll a and Phaeopigments measurement by fluorometric and spectrophotometric method; Determination of bacterioplankton abundance using epifluorescence microscope; Identification, enumeration and biomass determination of Microzooplankton; Identification of zooplankton to the group level; Analysis of Transparent Exopolymer Particles (TEP); Determination of Particulate Organic Carbon and Particulate Organic Nitrogen using CHN analyzer; Measurement of Dissolved Oxygen by Winkler Method; determination of nutrients like nitrate & nitrite. I have a sound knowledge of determination of Bacterial Production using Methyl tritiated Thymidine; operation of scientific equipments like Multiple Plankton Net (MPN), CTD, Autosal and XBT launching, taking metereological observations. Apart from this I also have knowledge of Collection, identification & enumeration of Meiofauna along with other sediment parameters like chlorophyll a, Organic carbon, Grain size analysis, interstitial sediment water temperature, salinity and other associated microflora; Field collection of live specimens of foraminifera, maintain them in lab., culture of food organisms, preparation of culture dinches and other observations like size measurements etc.
