Brainstorming session to evolve research programmes for JGOFS ( INDIA ) - at NIO, Goa 9 Sept, 1991. Participants were from NIO, PRL, NCL, DOD and universities of Andhra Pradesh and Berhampur.The meeting recommended the formation of a steering committee to evaluate the project proposal and suggest ways and means for the implementation of the programme. This committee was scheduled to meet twice a year. The chairman of the committee was Prof. S. Krishnaswamy, PRL, Ahmedabad and convenor Dr. R.R. Nair, NIO, Goa. The members were Dr. S.K. Moira, IITM, Pune, Dr. K.V.Ramana Murthy, Andhra University, Dr. S. Prasanna Kumar, A.A. Rajendran and M.Madhupratap of NIO, Goa, Dr. Aditi Pant, NCL, Pune and Dr. B.N. Krishna Murthy, DOD, New-Delhi.

Meeting to discuss the details of each of the projects submitted from NIO under JGOFS ( INDIA ) on 22 Jan 1992 at NIO,Goa.

Meeting to Discuss the cruise plan, details of collection, sampling and measurements and other logistics during JGOFS cruises . This was held on 16 June 1993 at NIO, Goa.

Constitution of the committee to monitor implementation og JGOFS ( INDIA ) under the chairmanship of Dr. A.P. Mitra on 27 August, 1993. The members of the monitoring committee are Prof. D.L. Dekshatulu, Director , NRSA, Hyderabad; Prof. T.J. Pandian, school of energy, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai; Prof. M.S. Srinivasan, Department of Geology, B. H. U., Varanasi; Prof. D. Srinivasan, Department of Physics, IIT Chennai; Shri.B.N.Krishnamurthy, Director, D.O.D., New Delhi ( Convenor ).

First meeting of the JGOFS ( INDIA ) monitoring commitee under the chairmanship of A.P.Mitra on 19 March 1994 at NIO, Goa.

Re - constitution of JGOFS ( INDIA ) monitory committee to JGOFS steering committee with Prof. V.K. Gaur as chairman, and Dr. B.L. Deekshethulu, Dr. E.Desa, Dr. T.J. Pandian, Dr. C.S.P. Iyer and Dr. B.N. Krishnamurthy as members on 27 Oct 1994.

Meeting to discuss the results of the first two cruises ( Sept-Oct 1993 & April-May 1994), plan for the cruise in February 1995, and ships health on 17 Nov, 1994 at PRL Ahmedabad.

First steering committee meeting in which Prof. S. Krishnaswamy apraised of the JGOFS ( INDIA ) work done so far followed by presentation of each PI. Dr. Madhupratap represented the results of biological studies, Dr. Aditi Pant, Oxygen based production, Dr. R.R. Nair, collection of particulate matter, Dr. Prasanna Kumar, physical forcing and dynamics of the upper ocean, Dr. M. Dilip Kumar, biogeochemical cycle,  Dr. Shyam Lal, Trace gases in the Arabian Sea, Dr. M.M. Sarin, radionuclides with water columns, Prof. B.L.K. Somayajulu, Paleooceanography of Arabian Sea. Finally Prof. Krishna Swamy presented the review of the coast estimate and future plans. This was held on the 1 Feb, 1995 at NIO, Goa.

Meeting of JGOFS ( INDIA ) group at NCL, Pune on 28 - 29 June, 1995 to discuss the results of the winter 95 ( Feb 95) cruise. Meeting also discussed the preparation of the Annual Progress report and plans for publishing the results.

Second meeting of the steering committee was held on 4 Jan, 1996 at C-MMACS, Bangalore. Highlights of the results and bottlenecks were presented.

Third meeting of the steering committee. Prof.V.K.Gaur, chairman gave the remarks followed by a review of the field Program by Prof. S. Krishna Swamy. PI presented individual study results. Discussed the efforts towards modelling and data management. The meeting recommended organizing a National workshop for the extension of JGOFS to Bay of Bangal and preparation of a Data CD. This meeting was held on 3 Jan, 1997 at DOD, New Delhi.

National Workshop on Bay of Bengal Process Study to evolve Science Plan for Bay of Bengal measurements to address the upper ocean process in the context of Biogeochemical cycle of carbon. The meeting also reviewed the progress, publication, modelling and synthesis of JGOFS Arabian Sea programme. This was held at NIO, Goa on the 20-21 Nov, 1997.

Meeting between JGOFS Project Investigators and Shri. B.N. Krishnamurthy, Director D.O.D, to finalise the modelling and synthesis aspects on 20 October, 1998 at NIO, Goa.
