National Institute of Oceanography, Goa has developed state of art weather station for meteorological measurements on land and at sea. Our systems have been successfully used for environmental impact assessment along the Indian coast and on board scientific research vessels operating at sea.
Land based systems are designed to work in remote and hostile environment for extended period of time. We have options to support communication links such as ARGOS PTT, UHF/VHF and dial up access through phone and cellular network etc.
Ship based systems have integrated compass and GPS receiver and supports interfaces to various ship board equipment such as Log/Gyro, echosounders etc. Shipboard system uses personal computer for data acquisition and display. The system is implemented to work in Microsoft Windows environment with a user friendly menu driven graphical front end interface and provides networking support for multiple displays.
NIO AWS is designed with high quality imported sensors with proven performances in field. These sensors have been widely accepted for oceanographic and climatic studies in international programs. The data acquisition unit is designed using a low power, 32 bit embedded microcontroller and is programmed in 'C'. The system uses field programmable FLASH memories, so that software updates, modifications and enhancements etc. can be downloaded easily through serial port.
