You are visiting the Home page of Murari Purushottam Tapaswi. He did his graduation in Library Science, Marathwada University, Aurangabad in 1973,he also holds Bachelor of Science at same University in 1972. He has obtained Associateship in documentation & Information Sco.,which is Equivalent to Masters Degree in Info.Sci, from Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC), Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore in 1979. He did his Masters in Science from Marathwada University, Aurangabad in 1977.

He was actively involved in R&D projects where he was made leader in two of the projects named "Planning organization & execution of library & documentation services, and "Indian National ASFIS Center".

He is also the Life member of some of the Scientific bodies like Indian Library Association, Indian Association of Special Libraries & Information Centres, Society for Information Science, International Association of Marine & Aquatic Science Libraries & Information Centres.

He has attended several National and International Conferences and Seminars.On Deputations, he has been to Bermuda in 1989 for Participation in the IAMSLIC conference, France in 1989 for Consultations with Unesco/PGI & IOC officials on the Unesco project at NIO library, Italy in 1989 for Discussions in the Editorial Staff Meeting of Aquatic Sciences & Fisheries Abstracts,United Kingdom in 1992 for Participation in the Group of Experts in Marine Information Management meeting.

Popularization of ASFA CD-ROM database facility for Retrospective literature searches for Indian Marine Science researchers 1989

Active participation ASFIS (Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Information Systems supported by UN agencies) activities by way of quality imput of bibliographic literature in 1990.

Development of reliable Document delivery centre for marine science literature for users in India and abroad.

Recognition as an academic counsellor for the Library and Information Science students (degree course) of Indira Gandhi National Open University (Goa Study Centre)

Invited by Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commision of Unesco to participate in GE-MIM III and submit a working document on the Marine Information with reference to developing countries in 1993
