This Level-3 (L3) Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides global (4 km) and regional (1 km) vegetation indices (VI) detected with the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) onboard Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21. This product includes daily, weekly, and bi-weekly vegetation grids generated from VIIRS Sensor Data Records (SDR). The data are produced by the NOAA Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) and are distributed by the Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System (CLASS) as global grids in the NetCDF-4 file format with metadata attributes included.

Processing Steps	2015-04-22T00:00:00 - NOAA created the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by merging NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), including the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC), per the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, Public Law 113-235. NCEI launched publicly on April 22, 2015.
