Space Weather Follow On Lagrange 1 (SOL-1) Level 1a data from the Magnetometer (MAG)
SOL-1 MAG L1a data
NOAA SOL-1 MAG Instrument
This data collection consists of archived Space Weather Follow On Lagrange 1 (SOL-1) Level 1a data from the Magnetometer (MAG). The archival process includes daily files. The MAG instrument generates 1 daily file per level in the netCDF-4 format. These data are produced by the MAG instrument aboard the SOL-1 spacecraft. MAG monitors the interplanetary magnetic field for abrupt changes which can result from interplanetary shocks, coronal mass ejections, corotating interaction regions or high speed solar wind that can result in geomagnetic storms that are harmful to life and technology. SOL-1 will launch in 2025. Other products available are auxiliary files (frm-rt-l0_sol1, frm-st-l0_sol1, pkt-l0_sol1, orb-pr_sol1, sc-att_sol1); MAG files (mag-l0b_sol1, mag-l1b_sol1, mag-l2_sol1, mag-l3-avg1m_sol1, and mag-l3-avg1s_sol1); and, National Centers for Environmental Data (NCEI) Retrospective Science products (sci_mag-l1a_sol1, sci_mag-l1b_sol1, sci_mag-l2_sol1, sci_mag-l3-avg1m_sol1, and sci_mag-l3-avg1s_sol1).

The Space Weather Follow On Lagrange 1 (SOL-1) mission is a deep-space mission operating in a Lissajous orbit at the Sun-Earth Lagrange 1 (L1) point, enabling upstream measurements of solar wind disturbances before they reach Earth. It will provide continuous measurements of the sun’s corona and of the solar wind at the L1 point and transmit continuous real-time data to Earth.

The SOL-1 Observatory will have a 5-year mission life with on-board consumables to last 10 years. The spacecraft and instruments are high heritage designs. SOL-1 will be launched as a rideshare with NASA's Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) mission, scheduled for launch the second half of 2025.

| Purpose | Users of the SWFO archive data can be categorized into four distinct groups: NOAA and partner agencies involved in operational and decision support product development, retrospective users accessing data through virtual observatories, researchers engaging in basic scientific inquiry, and users with limited experience in the field. |
| Use Limitations |
- These SOL-1 data have not reached provisional maturity and are still undergoing testing. Users receiving these data through any dissemination means assume all risk related to their use and NOAA disclaims any and all warranties, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
