Product Description ------------------- This CD-ROM contains ENGINEERING WEATHER DATA PRODUCTS (EWD), version 1.0, 23 December 1999. In addition to a CD-ROM drive, it requires a browser and the Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader for the PDF files. To view the ENGINEERING WEATHER DATA PRODUCTS, double click on the EngineeringWeather.html file or use your web browser to open the EngineeringWeather.html file on this CD-ROM. A Word about Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader and Netscape Navigator 4.x ------------------------------------------------------------------ Acrobat viewers are unable to display a PDF file in Netscape Navigator 4.x for Windows when (1) the link to the PDF file is a file path rather than a URL, and (2) the Acrobat viewer is configured as a plug-in rather than a helper application. This problem affects the EWD files on this CD-ROM, which are PDF files that are linked with a file path rather than a URL. At the time of this publication, this problem is documented on the Adobe web site at: http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/1b36a.htm. There are two work-arounds to this problem: (1) Use Internet Explorer, or (2) Configure Netscape Navigator 4.x to use Acrobat Reader as a helper application instead of a plug-in. Installation Instructions for Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader -------------------------------------------------------- File "ar405eng.exe" is the installation and setup program for the Windows version of Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader 4.05 and file "ar32e301.exe" is the installation and setup program for Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) 3.01. Other versions may be downloaded from the Adobe web site. Refer below for the system requirements for the two versions. You may copy the "ar405eng.exe" or "ar32e301.exe" file to your hard disk and execute it there or you may execute it from the CD-ROM. The Adobe Acrobat Reader is a no-cost download from the http://www.adobe.com web site. However it is a copyrighted product with licensing restrictions. You can view the copyright information and licensing agreement on the web site. You will also be able to view them during installation and after you install the reader. The web site includes additional information concerning system requirements, troubleshooting, etc. The following installation instructions for the Adobe Acrobat Reader were copied from the Adobe web site and are reproduced here for your convenience: 1. Double-click the file "ar405eng.exe" (or ar32e301.exe) 2. Follow the instructions on your screen. If there is a failure at any point during the installation of Acrobat Reader, the installer performs a complete uninstall. For this reason, it is important not to close the installer application by clicking its close box in the upper right corner of the background window after clicking the "Thank You" dialog box that appears at the end of the installation. If you wait for a second or two, the installer will automatically close the background windows after the installation is complete.
