Monthly-resolution model results correlate modestly (r = 0.34, p < 0.05) with observed isotopic data, with higher correlation (r = 0.45, p < 0.01) over the earliest 10 years of comparison and nonsignificant correlation over the most recent 6 years of record. Analysis of model output for La Selva suggests that isotopic variations are strongly controlled by rainfall amount. The model simulates an analogous but stronger than observed negative isotopic anomaly associated with positive JulySeptember rainfall anomalies during El NiņoSouthern Oscillation (ENSO) warm phase event years. Simulated tree isotope data for the global tropics suggest that a network of well-replicated data series from selected locations may resolve the large-scale precipitation anomaly pattern associated with ENSO.","pubRank":"1"}],"site":[{"NOAASiteId":"56559","siteName":"North America and northern Central America","siteCode":null,"mappable":"N","locationName":"Continent>North America","geo":{"geoType":"Feature","geometry":{"type":"POLYGON","coordinates":["9","72","-170","-50"]},"properties":{"southernmostLatitude":"9","northernmostLatitude":"72","westernmostLongitude":"-170","easternmostLongitude":"-50","minElevationMeters":null,"maxElevationMeters":null}},"paleoData":[{"dataTableName":"Evans2007model","NOAADataTableId":"32465","earliestYear":1900,"mostRecentYear":2000,"timeUnit":"CE","earliestYearBP":50,"mostRecentYearBP":-50,"earliestYearCE":1900,"mostRecentYearCE":2000,"coreLengthMeters":null,"dataTableNotes":null,"species":[],"dataFile":[{"fileUrl":"https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/treering/isotope/northamerica/costarica/evans2007/evans2007.txt","urlDescription":"Text File","linkText":"Matlab Code and Sample Input File","variables":[],"NOAAKeywords":["earth science>paleoclimate>tree-ring>oxygen isotopes","earth science>paleoclimate>tree-ring>Proxy System Model"]}]}]}],"reference":{"pastThesaurusSkos":"https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/paleo-search/skos/past-thesaurus.rdf","pastThesaurusExplorer":"https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/paleo-search/cvterms","gcmdKeywordThesaurus":"https://earthdata.nasa.gov/earth-observation-data/find-data/idn/gcmd-keywords"},"dataLicenseDescription":null,"dataLicenseUrl":null}
