August continues to be\nbelow normal conditions.\n\nWashington`s July was 41 percent of average\nOregon`s July was 45 percent of average\n\nTemperature\nNear average temperatures were observed across western OR and WA,\nwhile above average temperatures were observed across most of WA\nand OR east of the Cascades. August continue to see above normal\ntemperatures\n\nWashington: 21st warmest July(3.2 DegreesF above normal)\nOregon: 15th warmest July (3.8 DegreesF above normal)\n\nSummary of Impacts\nHydrologic Impacts\nBelow normal to much below streamflow in the Cowlitz, Willamette,\nand Sandy River systems. Western Oregon Soil Moisture is much\nbelow normal in the Willamette Valley Groundwater and stream water\nquality could worsen with less water\n\nAgricultural Impacts\nWater availability strained by lower than normal precipitation and\nsnowpack. Oregon- Over 75% of topsoil and subsoil moisture\nclassified as short or very short (USDA). Washington- Over 60% of\ntopsoil and subsoil moisture classified as short or very short\n(USDA)\n\nFire Hazard Impacts\nSignificant fire potential throughout Oregon and Washington\npersists through September.\n\nOther Impacts\nHydropower could be impacted with less water in system\n\nMitigation Actions\nPlease refer to your municipality and\/or water provider for\nmitigation information\n\nFire Hazard Impacts\nFire potential continues through the summer in Washington and\nOregon. Significant fire potential reduces to normal potential\nstarting in October.\n\nDrought Outlook\nThe latest monthly and seasonal outlooks can be found on the CPC\nhomepage.
