Synopsis... One of the warmest and driest late-spring through mid-winter periods on record resulted in intense drought conditions across northern and central Arizona. However, a series of Pacific storm systems in late January and again in mid February brought beneficial rain and snow to portions of northern Arizona, especially from Flagstaff to the White Mountains, southward into Yavapai and Gila counties. In the latest US Drought Monitor issued February 18th, the drought depiction was improved by one category to D2 (Severe Drought) in portions of Yavapai and southern Coconino counties including Flagstaff, Sedona, and Prescott.
