{"WFO":{"66":"LKN","101":"REV","118":"VEF"},"DATE":{"66":"600 AM EST Mon Mar 22 2021","101":"600 AM EST Mon Mar 22 2021","118":"518 AM PDT WED MAR 3 2021"},"DGT":{"66":"No drought statement available for this WFO.","101":"No drought statement available for this WFO.","118":"635\nAXUS75 KVEF 031319\nDGTVEF\n\nDROUGHT INFORMATION STATEMENT\nNATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAS VEGAS NV\n518 AM PDT WED MAR 3 2021\n\n...EXTREME TO EXCEPTIONAL DROUGHT CONDITIONS CONTINUE ACROSS MOST OF\nTHE SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN AND MOJAVE DESERT...\n\n.SYNOPSIS:\n\nAccording to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor from February 25,\nextreme (D3) to exceptional (D4) drought continues to exist across\na large swath of the southern Great Basin and Mojave Desert.\nSmall sliver of Severe (D2) drought is present across the western\nMojave Desert of San Bernardino County in eastern California.\n\n.Precipitation:\n\nA few weather systems in late January and early February provided\nbrief periods of precipitation across the area. Much of the better\nprecipitation fell across the southern Sierra Nevada as snow. The\nprecipitation that did fall has done little to our existing drought\nstatus and only marginally helped conditions across the southern\nSierra Nevada.\n\n.SUMMARY OF IMPACTS:\n\n.Fire Weather:\n\nDry fuels from the lack of Monsoon and Fall precipitation allowed\nthe fire season to persist through the Fall and Winter. The Significant\nFire Weather Outlook calls for the threat of large fires to increase\nacross Arizona in April, then spread westward into southern Nevada\nand eastern California in May and June.\n\n.Agricultural:\n\nThe lack of precipitation contributed to extremely poor grazing for\nlivestock on open rangeland. Water hauls are needed since man-made\ntanks that typically capture runoff from precipitation have gone\ndry.\n\nWildlife: WildCare Eastern Sierra has remained busy with wildlife\nrehabilitation due to prolonged heat and drought resulting in less\nprey species from birds of prey. Also, heavy smoke from wildfires\ncould have thrown off some birds migration with several young\nAmerican White Pelicans, Common Loons and an Eared Grebe off course\nlanding on parking lots, roadsides, and in swimming pools. (Sierra\nWaves Media)\n\n.Hydrology:\n\nWater Supply forecast for April-July 2021 for the Colorado Basin, as\nwell as the Owens River Basin are forecast to be below normal. Any\nthreat of flooding from runoff is low.\n\n.LOCAL DROUGHT OUTLOOK:\n\nFor March 8 to March 12, temperatures look to be below\nnormal while precipitation may be near to slightly above normal.\n\nThe 8 to 14 day outlook, for March 10 to March 16, calls for\nbelow normal temperatures and near normal precipitation.\n\nThe Three-Month outlook for April-June, indicates above normal\ntemperatures and below normal precipitation.
