While we have been fortunate to receive significantly above normal snowfall this past winter season, long term drought conditions persist across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Much of northeast Nebraska remains in a moderate drought, as well as parts of west central Iowa and extreme southeast Nebraska. The remainder of the area remains abnormally dry. For the last 6 months, long term deficits in moisture remain, with some areas still 2 to 4 inches below normal.
