RIW 20210319 <![CDATA[ National Weather Service Riverton WY 408 PM MDT THU FEB 18 2021 ...EXTREME DROUGHT CONDITIONS PERSIST ACROSS CENTRAL WYOMING... .SYNOPSIS: .Drought Intensity and Extent: According to the latest update of the U.S. Drought Monitor on February 16th, Extreme (D3) Drought conditions persisted across almost all of Natrona, Johnson and Washakie counties as well as southeast Big Horn, the eastern half of Hot Springs, north central and eastern Fremont and extreme eastern Sweetwater counties. Severe (D2) Drought conditions continued across southern Big Horn, the western half of Hot Springs, southeast Park, central and southern Fremont, eastern Sublette, and the eastern half of Sweetwater counties. Moderate (D1) Drought conditions have remained across the rest of Big Horn, Hot Springs, Lincoln, Sublette and Sweetwater counties, as well as western Fremont county. Abnormally Dry (D0) conditions continued across western and extreme northern Teton, western Park, extreme western Fremont, and the extreme northern parts of Sublette and Lincoln counties. .Precipitation: January retained the overall long term dry pattern across much of the region, though a few weak cold fronts did slide across the Cowboy State during the month. Unlike the previous months, these winter storms were more evenly spread across the month, but still produced below normal precipitation totals for much of the area.
