Note: For ODP 658C, the age scale has been modified several times. A C14 agescale from May 2004 is used here, not the one published in Zhao et al. 1995. #-------------------- # Publication # Authors: Zhao, M., N.A.S. Beveridge, N.J. Shackleton, M. Sarnthein, and G. The derived Uk37 sea surface temperature record for both cores shows a range of temperatures from about 18C during the last glacial to 21.5C during the early Holocene. Both records also reveal changes in SST as much as 2C - 4C over a few hundred years, which correlate well with similar abrupt climatic changes observed in cores from elsewhere in the NE Atlantic, associated with "Heinrich events". Our results indicate that meltwater produced by these ice-rafting events was transmitted southward by the Canary Current, where it had considerable impact on SSTs in the subtropical eastern Atlantic. #-------------------- # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: # Grant: #-------------------- # Site_Information # Site_Name: BOFS-31K # Location: North Atlantic Ocean # Northernmost_Latitude: 19 # Southernmost_Latitude: 19 # Easternmost_Longitude: -20.17 # Westernmost_Longitude: -20.17 # Elevation_m: -3300 #-------------------- # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: BOFS-31K # First_Year: 76150 # Last_Year: 600 # Time_Unit: 14C yr BP # Core_Length_m: # Parameter_Keywords: biomarkers, reconstruction # Notes: #-------------------- # Chronology_Information # Chronology: # #-------------------- # Variables # # PaST_Thesaurus_Download_Resource: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/PaST-thesaurus/SKOS/past-thesaurus-v1.0.rdf # PaST_Thesaurus_Download_Description: Paleoenvironmental Standard Terms (PaST) Thesaurus terms, definitions, and relationships in SKOS format. # # Data variables follow that are preceded by "##" in columns one and two. # Variables list, one per line, shortname-tab-var components: what, material, error, units, seasonality, data type, detail, method, C or N for Character or Numeric data) # ## depth_cm depth,,,centimeter, paleoceanography;climate reconstructions,,,N, ## age_14CkaBP age,,,radiocarbon kiloyear before present,,paleoceanography;climate reconstructions,,,N, ## C37 C37 alkenone,,,microgram per gram,,paleoceanography,,,N, ## uk37 alkenone unsaturation index Uk37 prime,,,dimensionless,,paleoceanography,,,N, ## SST_uk37 sea surface temperature, alkenone unsaturation index,,degree Celsius,,paleoceanography;climate reconstructions,,,N, # #-------------------- # Data: # Data lines follow (have no #) # Data line format -
