Comments: Twenty-three of 30 trees were crossdated. One living tree
had a pith date of 1900.  Nineteen others (a mixture of living, stumps,
and logs; 5 stumps had bark dates of 1985) had pith dates in the late
1700s, from 1771 to 1776 (6) and from 1781 to 1795 (13).  Three final
trees were a log with pith date of 1632, a snag with a pith date of
1617, and a log with pith date of 1579.  The two logs had outside dates
in the early to middle 1700s but the snag dated to 1780 (outside date,
well distant from death date).  No growth response noted on the snag in
middle 1700s.  1823 was recorded as a fire date instead of 1822.

Site Diagram: The Site Chronology Diagram was provided by the investigator.
Time spans of trees are represented by horizontal lines with dates of fire 
scars marked by inverted triangles.  Dashed lines are estimated number of 
years to pith.  Vertical lines to left on tree chronologies are pith dates 
with inside dates (i.e., unknown number of years to pith) marked by slanted 
lines.  Vertical lines to right on tree chronologies are bark dates (= death 
dates) with outside dates (i.e., unknown number of years to death date) 
marked by slanted lines.  Note that x-axis varies on chronologies.

Fire History Graphs: Fire History Graphs illustrate specific years when 
fires occurred and how many trees were scarred. They are available in both 
PDF and PNG formats. The graphs consist of 2 parts, both of which show the 
X axis (time line) at the bottom with the earliest year of information on 
the left and the latest on the right.
The Fire Index Plot is the topmost plot, and shows two variables: sample 
depth (the number of recording trees in each year) as a blue line along 
the left Y axis, compared with the percent trees scarred shown as gray bars 
along the right Y axis.
Below, the Fire Chronology Plot consists of horizontal lines representing
injuries by year on individual sampled trees. Symbols are overlain that 
denote the years containing the dendrochronologically-dated fire scars or
injuries. The sample ID of each tree is displayed to the right of each
line. The Composite Axis below represents the composite information from
all individual series. The symbols used to represent the fire scars or
injuries, and the filters used to determine the composite information,
are shown in the legend.
