Comments: Thirty of 31 trees were crossdated from this plot.  Two of the
oldest trees found in all plots were collected here: tree 8 extended
from 1223 (pith) to 1429 and tree 24 extended from 1261 (inside date,
not pith) to 1428.  Both were short stobs, heavily charred and eroded.
Otherwise the stand was mostly young, with 2 trees in the early 1500s
cohort, several in the 1700s from the early to the latter cohorts,
and most trees sampled living that dated to the early 1800s cohort.
Fire scars recorded in the stand included both 1706 and 1708 and several
in the latter 1800s.

Time spans of trees are represented by horizontal lines with dates of fire 
scars marked by inverted triangles.  Dashed lines are estimated number of 
years to pith.  Vertical lines to left on tree chronologies are pith dates 
with inside dates (i.e., unknown number of years to pith) marked by slanted 
lines.  Vertical lines to right on tree chronologies are bark dates (= death 
dates) with outside dates (i.e., unknown number of years to death date) 
marked by slanted lines.  Note that x-axis varies on chronologies.

Fire History Graphs: Fire History Graphs illustrate specific years when 
fires occurred and how many trees were scarred. They are available in both 
PDF and PNG formats. The graphs consist of 2 parts, both of which show the 
X axis (time line) at the bottom with the earliest year of information on 
the left and the latest on the right.
The Fire Index Plot is the topmost plot, and shows two variables: sample 
depth (the number of recording trees in each year) as a blue line along 
the left Y axis, compared with the percent trees scarred shown as gray bars 
along the right Y axis.
Below, the Fire Chronology Plot consists of horizontal lines representing
injuries by year on individual sampled trees. Symbols are overlain that 
denote the years containing the dendrochronologically-dated fire scars or
injuries. The sample ID of each tree is displayed to the right of each
line. The Composite Axis below represents the composite information from
all individual series. The symbols used to represent the fire scars or
injuries, and the filters used to determine the composite information,
are shown in the legend.
