Skinner, and Andreas Schmittner, currently in preparation for the journal Science. Output files are tavg and tsi netcdf files. The rest of the files are necessary to run the model, if more experiments are going to be carried out. #--------------------------------------- # Publication # Authors: Juan Muglia, Luke C. Here we use a physical-biogeochemical model constrained by carbon and nitrogen isotopes to explore the effects of Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) and Southern Ocean iron fertilization on the distributions of these isotopes and ocean carbon storage. We find that a surprisingly weak (6-9 Sv) and shallow AMOC maximizes carbon storage and best reproduces the glacial sediment data. Increasing the atmospheric soluble iron flux in the Southern Ocean intensifies export production, carbon storage, and improves agreement with reconstructions. Our best fitting model suggests that a weak, shallow AMOC and enhanced iron fertilization conspired to enhance carbon storage in the glacial ocean. #--------------------------------------- # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: NSF # Grant: OCE-1131834, OCE-1235544 #--------------------------------------- # Site Information # Site_Name: Global Ocean # Location: # Country: # Northernmost_Latitude: 90 # Southernmost_Latitude: -90 # Easternmost_Longitude: 180 # Westernmost_Longitude: -180 # Elevation: #--------------------------------------- # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: global ocean model Science Muglia17 # First_Year: # Last_Year: # Time_Unit: # Core_Length: # Notes: #--------------------------------------- # Chronology_Information # Chronology: #--------------------------------------- # Variables # Data variables follow that are preceded by "##" in columns one and two. # Variables list, one per line, shortname-tab- 10 components: what, material, error, units, seasonality, archive, detail, method, C or N for Character or Numeric data, additional info #------------------------ # Data # Data lines follow (have no #) # Data line format - tab-delimited text, variable short name as header # Missing Value: NA All data as well as supporting code and files is contained in this folder: https://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/gcmoutput/muglia2017-sci
