The measured concentration of 10Be in the Dome Fuji ice core and the derived 10Be flux show similar fluctuations, with both increasing at known solar-activity minima over the last millennium in agreement with earlier observations of 10Be and 14C. Based on the similar nature of the 10Be flux to the reconstructed 14C production rate patterns, a 10Be-14C correlation age model for the Dome Fuji ice core was successfully constructed. This age model agrees well with the initial version of the tephrochronology of the core. The 10Be-flux record contains information on variability in the amount of cosmic radiation incident on the atmosphere, which is mainly attributable to high-frequency change in solar activity and low-frequency background intensity adjustment of the geomagnetic field. High-resolution 10Be analyses of the Dome Fuji ice cores promise to provide potentially important information on the history of cosmic radiation intensity over the past several hundred thousand years. #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: # Grant: #------------------ # Site_Information # Site_Name: Dome Fuji # Location: Antarctica # Country: # Northernmost_Latitude: -77.3169 # Southernmost_Latitude: -77.3169 # Easternmost_Longitude: 39.7033 # Westernmost_Longitude: 39.7033 # Elevation: 3810 m #------------------ # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: DF2008d18O # Earliest_Year: 695 # Most_Recent_Year: 1875 # Time_Unit: CE # Core_Length: # Notes: #------------------ # Chronology: # #------------------ # Variables # # Data variables follow that are preceded by "##" in columns one and two. # Data line variables format: Variables list, one per line, shortname-tab-longname-tab-longname components ( 10 components: what, material, error, units, seasonality, archive, detail, method, C or N for Character or Numeric data, additional_information) # ## age_CE age, , , year CE, , , , ,N, ## d18O delta 18O, ice, , per mil SMOW, annual, ice core, composited, isotope ratio mass spectrometry,N, # #------------------ # Data: # Data lines follow (have no #) # Data line format - tab-delimited text, variable short name as header) # Missing_Values: nan # age_CE d18O 1875 -55.07 1868.6 -55.11542 1862.18 -55.63942 1855.15 -54.77075 1846.87 -56.1373 1838.96 -56.21375 1830.35 -56.98484 1822.69 -55.44461 1815 -54.81436 1805.44 -56.84621 1795.28 -57.09841 1785 -56.00907 1777.57 -56.95044 1770.11 -55.02001 1762.57 -56.47017 1755 -54.0865 1746.68 -55.4526 1738.73 -55.45309 1730.75 -55.98498 1722.31 -55.01804 1713.82 -57.02022 1705.29 -57.10281 1697.58 -56.37818 1691.74 -56.79064 1685 -55.9849 1672.51 -55.71501 1660.6 -55.91853 1649.39 -56.79802 1637.5 -55.87576 1625.81 -56.83882 1615.36 -55.65325 1605 -55.63015 1595.53 -54.96355 1586.02 -56.24955 1576.93 -56.51255 1566.66 -55.5741 1555.42 -53.67313 1544.14 -54.78363 1533.38 -56.54008 1522.81 -56.10699 1512.08 -55.15989 1501.53 -56.2793 1490.23 -56.0212 1479.01 -57.27285 1467.73 -57.35593 1456.28 -57.14208 1445 -56.32747 1435.18 -54.45836 1425.43 -56.07528 1415.64 -56.61605 1405.81 -55.89034 1396.43 -56.43054 1387.5 -53.27694 1379.04 -53.91946 1371.45 -54.38254 1362.83 -54.80728 1354.08 -55.27381 1345.39 -55.56336 1337.09 -55.87651 1329.77 -56.21522 1321.61 -55.39101 1313.32 -56.27953 1305 -55.82676 1295.95 -54.39029 1286.31 -55.55343 1275.51 -55.43397 1266.65 -55.86742 1258.53 -56.31065 1248.9 -54.49933 1238.14 -55.92135 1227.62 -55.62004 1217.52 -56.19662 1208.51 -57.23967 1199.01 -56.4414 1188.13 -54.84586 1177.2 -56.7958 1166.58 -56.35863 1155.92 -55.22289 1145 -54.26623 1132.24 nan 1120.94 -56.66673 1109.61 -56.42831 1095.98 -56.58955 1082.3 -54.96431 1069.95 -55.11573 1057.57 -54.66689 1045 -55.65501 1035.11 -53.77237 1024.84 -54.53579 1015 -55.29183 1005.28 -55.27315 995.05 -55.76719 984.675 -54.98407 973.55 -54.71621 963.596 -56.11785 953.609 -55.96378 942.755 -55.47273 933.078 -55.90974 923.62 -55.51792 914.138 -54.74216 905 -55.63444 894.786 -55.94808 884.166 -54.79329 874.158 -56.34826 864.257 -55.46249 853.685 -58.18143 842.701 -55.45217 831.038 -56.46759 819.217 -56.26068 808.667 -55.94219 797.437 -56.3516 785 -57.27413 770.021 -55.57406 755 -55.44873 746.025 -55.45529 737.917 -55.24834 729.79 -54.27307 720.65 -54.34729 712.088 -56.01814 703.502 -55.1633 695 -56.03632
