TEX86 data includes TEX86 value and calibrated temperature (using Kim et al., 2010 # as described in the text). This dataset also includes BIT Index determined. # dD dataset includes the leaf wax n-alkanoic value (mean of multiple measurements, with standard deviation indicated). # Ice volume correction column described in text. # d13C n-alkane data was based on the weighted mean of the C29, C31, C33 chain lengths (most abudant long chain lengths). # Standard deviation of replicates is shown. # #-------------------- # Publication # Authors: Melissa A. Records of hydroclimate expressed in compound specific dD values from terrestrial leaf waxes and a TEX86 paleotemperature record support multiple stages of pronounced drying and cooling from 13.8 to 11.5 ka and demonstrate the dynamic behavior of the low latitude tropics during the deglaciation. The vegetation response, illustrated by compound specific d13C values and fossil pollen records, was an expansion of C4 grassland when the region was cool and arid. These results advance our understanding of a spatially and temporally complex regional response to global climate forcing, suggesting weakening of the Indian Ocean monsoon at the end of the Pleistocene that coincides with a minor decrease in the rate of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) and during a time of stepwise cooling in the northern high latitudes. #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) # Grant: NA-060-AR4310113 #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: European Research Council (FP7/2007-2013) # Grant: 226600 #------------------ # Site_Information # Site_Name: Lake Albert Core F # Location: Africa>Eastern Africa # Country: # Northernmost_Latitude: 1.835 # Southernmost_Latitude: 1.835 # Easternmost_Longitude: 31.17 # Westernmost_Longitude: 31.17 # Elevation: 615 m #------------------ # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: Albert2014TEX86 # Earliest_Year: 14334 # Most_Recent_Year: 7117 # Time_Unit: Cal.
