Based on the results of lithological and chironomid analyses, the loss on ignition (LOI) values, as well as the results of radiocarbon dating (14C AMS), new data on the paleoclimate in the Karelian Isthmus, in particular the quantitative reconstruction of the mean July temperature (TJuly, °C) in the Late Pleistocene and Holocene and the evolution of the ecosystem of Medvedevskoe Lake have been obtained. #------------------ # Publication # Authors: Kaufman, D., N. We present a global compilation of quality-controlled, published, temperature-sensitive proxy records extending back 12,000 years through the Holocene. Data were compiled from 679 sites where time series cover at least 4000 years, are resolved at sub-millennial scale (median spacing of 400 years or finer) and have at least one age control point every 3000 years, with cut-off values slackened in data-sparse regions. The data derive from lake sediment (51%), marine sediment (31%), peat (11%), glacier ice (3%), and other natural archives. The database contains 1319 records, including 157 from the Southern Hemisphere. The multi-proxy database comprises paleotemperature time series based on ecological assemblages, as well as biophysical and geochemical indicators that reflect mean annual or seasonal temperatures, as encoded in the database. This database can be used to reconstruct the spatiotemporal evolution of Holocene temperature at global to regional scales, and is publicly available in Linked Paleo Data (LiPD) format. #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: # Grant: #------------------ # Site_Information # Site_Name: Medvedevskoe Lake # Location: Europe>Eastern Europe>Russia # Country: Russia # Northernmost_Latitude: 60.5309 # Southernmost_Latitude: 60.5309 # Easternmost_Longitude: 29.8992 # Westernmost_Longitude: 29.8992 # Elevation: 102.2 #------------------ # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: Medvedevskoe.Nazarova.2018 # Earliest_Year: 12017.6 # Most_Recent_Year: 0.0 # Time_Unit: cal yr BP # Core_Length: # Notes: #------------------ # Species # Species_Name: # Species_Code: # Common_Name: #------------------ # Chronology_Information # Chronology: #------------------ # Variables # # Data variables follow that are preceded by "##" in columns one and two. # Variables list, one per line, shortname-tab-longname components (9 components: what, material, error, units, seasonality, archive, detail, method, C or N for Character or Numeric data) # ## OriginalSampleID sample identification,,,,,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,C,OriginalSampleID ## depth depth,,,centimeter,,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,N, ## age age,,,calendar year before present,,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,N, ## temperature surface air temperature,midge assemblage,,degree Celsius,Jul,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,N,Russian Far East calibration dataset (Nazarova et al. 2015); WAPLS ## uncertaintyHigh surface air temperature,midge assemblage,unspecified error upper bound,degree Celsius,Jul,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,N, ## uncertaintyLow surface air temperature,midge assemblage,unspecified error lower bound,degree Celsius,Jul,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,N, ## ReliabIeYN1 notes,,,,,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,C,Data are reliable (Yes or No) ## Commentregardingreliability1 notes,,,,,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,C,comment regarding reliability ## nonReliableTemperature temperature,midge assemblage,,degree Celsius,Jul,insect;paleolimnology;climate reconstructions,,,N,Northern Russian calibration dataset (Nazarova et al. 2015); WAPLS;non-reliable temperature # #------------------ # Data: # Data lines follow (have no #) # Data line format - tab-delimited text, variable short name as header # Missing_Values: nan # OriginalSampleID depth age temperature uncertaintyHigh uncertaintyLow ReliabIeYN1 Commentregardingreliability1 nonReliableTemperature 238.0 1.0 0.0 14.7 15.80311 13.59689 y nan nan 246.0 8.0 601.464 13.1675 14.27061 12.06439 y nan nan 254.0 16.0 1202.93 13.5603 14.66341 12.45719 y nan nan 262.0 24.0 1804.39 14.1424 15.24551 13.03929 y nan nan 268.0 30.0 2405.86 13.461 14.56411 12.35789 y nan nan 274.0 36.0 2856.95 13.4152 14.51831 12.31209 y nan nan 280.0 42.0 3308.05 13.2708 14.37391 12.16769 y nan nan 286.0 48.0 3759.15 14.1411 15.24421 13.03799 y nan nan 292.0 54.0 4210.25 13.9743 15.07741 12.87119 y nan nan 298.0 60.0 4661.35 14.2654 15.36851 13.16229 y nan nan 304.0 66.0 5112.44 13.5481 14.65121 12.44499 y nan nan 310.0 72.0 5563.54 14.7445 15.84761 13.64139 y nan nan 364.0 90.0 6014.64 14.5481 15.65121 13.44499 y nan nan 370.0 98.0 6067.16 14.7091 15.81221 13.60599 y nan nan 376.0 104.0 6350.52 14.4273 15.53041 13.32419 y nan nan 382.0 110.0 6633.88 13.6474 14.75051 12.54429 y nan nan 388.0 116.0 6917.23 14.0551 15.15821 12.95199 y nan nan 394.0 122.0 7200.59 15.1081 16.21121 14.00499 y nan nan 400.0 128.0 7483.94 15.1578 16.26091 14.05469 y nan nan 406.0 134.0 7767.3 14.9253 16.02841 13.82219 y nan nan 412.0 140.0 8050.66 13.8747 14.97781 12.77159 y nan nan 418.0 146.0 8334.01 13.4239 14.52701 12.32079 y nan nan 424.0 152.0 8617.37 nan 15.28061 13.07439 n C. ambigua constitute 64% of the fauna 14.1775 430.0 158.0 8900.72 13.3847 14.48781 12.28159 y nan nan 436.0 164.0 9184.08 14.8127 15.91581 13.70959 y nan nan 442.0 170.0 9467.44 15.0831 16.18621 13.97999 y nan nan 448.0 176.0 9750.79 12.4145 13.51761 11.31139 y nan nan 454.0 182.0 10034.1 13.135 14.23811 12.03189 y nan nan 460.0 188.0 10317.5 12.99 14.09311 11.88689 y nan nan 466.0 194.0 10600.9 12.986 14.08911 11.88289 y nan nan 472.0 200.0 10884.2 11.963 13.06611 10.85989 y nan nan 478.0 206.0 11167.6 13.0525 14.15561 11.94939 y nan nan 484.0 212.0 11450.9 12.2559 13.35901 11.15279 y nan nan 490.0 218.0 11734.3 13.962 15.06511 12.85889 y nan nan 496.0 224.0 12017.6 13.3937 14.49681 12.29059 y nan nan
