A lack of high-quality reconstructions of past hydroclimate has recently been identified as a critical research gap. Speleothems, with their precise chronologies, widespread distribution, and ability to record changes in local to regional hydroclimate variability, are an ideal source of such information. Here, we present a new version of the Speleothem Isotopes Synthesis and AnaLysis database (SISALv3), which has been expanded to include trace element ratios and Sr isotopes as additional, hydroclimate-sensitive geochemical proxies. The oxygen and carbon isotope data included in previous versions of the database have been substantially expanded. SISALv3 contains speleothem data from 365 sites from across the globe, including 95 , 85 , 52 , 25 , 29 , and 14 Sr-isotope records. The database also has increased spatiotemporal coverage for stable oxygen (892) and carbon (620) isotope records compared with SISALv2 (which consists of 673 and 430 stable oxygen and carbon records, respectively). Additional meta information has been added to improve the machine-readability and filtering of data. Standardized chronologies are included for all new entities along with the originally published chronologies. Thus, the SISALv3 database constitutes a unique resource of speleothem palaeoclimate information that allows regional to global palaeoclimate analyses based on multiple geochemical proxies, permitting more robust interpretations of past hydroclimate and comparisons with isotope-enabled climate models and other Earth system and hydrological models. The database can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.5287/ora-2nanwp4rk (Kaushal et al., 2024). #----------------------------------------- # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: # Grant: #----------------------------------------- # Site_Information # Site_Name:La Mine Cave # Location:Tunisia # Northernmost_Latitude:36.03 # Southernmost_Latitude:36.03 # Easternmost_Longitude:9.68 # Westernmost_Longitude:9.68 # Elevation_m:975 #----------------------------------------- # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: Min-stm1 isotopes Genty2006 SISAL v3 # First_Year: 23168 # Last_Year: 5316 # Time_Unit: Cal Yr BP # Core_Length_m: # Parameter_Keywords: oxygen isotopes, carbon isotopes # Notes: Contact: Kerstin Braun; Type: stalagmite; Dist. from entrance (m): 300; Entity Status: current; Depth Reference: from base; Overlying Bedrock Thickness (m): 50; Drip Type: unknown; Drip Height: NA; Drip Water Equilibrium Studies: unknown; Trace Elements Measured: ; Organics Measured: no; Fluid Inclusions Measured: no; Fabric Studies: no; Clumped Isotopes Measured: no; Noble Gases Measured: no; C14 Measured: no; ODL Measurements: no; Mg/Ca Measured: no; Type from WOKAM: continuous carbonate; Vegetation Type: trees and shrubs; Land Use: unknown; Copernicus lcc: shrubs; Cover Type: thin; Host Rock Trace Elements: no; Drip Water Trace Elements: no; Isotope Standard: Vienna-PDB; d18O dripwater carbonate difference: NA; Trace Elements Datafile: no; Trace Elements Metadata File: NA; Cave Map: no; Entity Scan: no #----------------------------------------- # Chronology_Information # Chronology: Uranium-Thorium # Chronology_Download_Resource: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/templates/noaa-wds-paleo-uth-terms.csv # Chronology_Download_Description: Uranium-Thorium terms and definitions. # Chronology_Notes: Metadata and data from SISAL v3 database. # Rejection_Rationale: # 238U_Decay_Constant: other (see notes) # 234U_Decay_Constant: other (see notes) # 230Th_Decay_Constant: other (see notes) # Initial_230Th/232Th: # Initial_230Th/232Th_Method: # Age_Model_Method: # Missing_Values: NA # Chronology_Table: # date_type depth_bot_mm thick_mm samp_id material_dated weight_mg age_uncorr_BM age_uncorr_uncert_pos_yr age_uncorr_uncert_neg_yr date_used 238U_ppb 238U_uncert_ppb 232Th_ppt 232Th_uncert_ppb 230Th_ppt 230Th_uncert_ppb 230Th_232Th_act 230Th_232Th_act_uncert 230Th_238U_act 230Th_238U_act_uncert 234U_238U_act 234U_238U_act_uncert 230Th_232Th_act_init 230Th_232Th_act_init_uncert age_corr_BP1950 age_corr_uncert_pos_yr age_corr_uncert_neg_yr # TIMS 275 NA Min 1-U/Th-A calcite NA 5636 37 37 yes 258.3 5 NA NA NA NA 441 4 0.038145101 0.000774147 1.337 0.007 NA NA 5586 37 37 # TIMS 230 NA Min 1-U/Th-B calcite NA 8065 101 100 yes 254 6 NA NA NA NA 178 3 0.054248317 0.000877814 1.3217 0.0068 NA NA 8015 101 100 # TIMS 175 NA Min 1-U/Th-C calcite NA 10305 110 110 yes 235.9 6.1 NA NA NA NA 755 20 0.065094272 0.000928748 1.3949 0.0075 NA NA 10255 110 110 # TIMS 135 NA Min 1-U/Th-D calcite NA 11829 257 256 yes 165 5.8 NA NA NA NA 389 27 0.068956337 0.001695613 1.5024 0.0071 NA NA 11779 257 256 # TIMS 115 NA Min 1-U/Th-E calcite NA 13307 401 398 yes 118 6.3 NA NA NA NA 478 20 0.078184026 0.002529628 1.4824 0.0078 NA NA 13257 401 398 # TIMS 75 NA Min 1-U/Th-W calcite NA 16834 128 128 yes 140.4 3.5 NA NA NA NA 223 3 0.10437613 0.000994789 1.3825 0.0043 NA NA 16784 128 128 # TIMS 30 NA Min 1-U/Th-X1 calcite NA 22580 249 248 yes 120 7.7 NA NA NA NA 187 3 0.139023673 0.00213025 1.3602 0.0092 NA NA 22530 249 248 #----------------------------------------- # Variables # PaST_Thesaurus_Download_Resource: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/paleo-search/skos/past-thesaurus.rdf # PaST_Thesaurus_Download_Description: Paleoenvironmental Standard Terms (PaST) Thesaurus terms, definitions, and relationships in SKOS format. # ##
