Collins, Colorado 80525-340037 pp. This collection of cores came mostly from ponderosa pine trees growing north of Pinyon Flats Campground, along the Medano Creek Trail (MCT) and within Great Sand Dunes National Monument (GSD) along the main road through the sand dunes to the east of the creek. However, near the wilderness boundary, we found some exceptional Douglas-fir trees, and we decided to include these in the collection. However, the climate reconstruction is based solely on ponderosa pine trees. The low elevation Doug-firs should eventually be developed into their own chronology, as these are exceptionally old trees, going back to the 1200s.
