Blanca Peak, Colorado - CO562 Additional Site Information Diane L. Douglas. Detrend method: Negative exponontial or linear regression with negative or 0 slope Purpose of Collection: Climatology - temperature analyses Reference: Douglas, Diane L. 1998. Temperature Reconstructions Spanning the Continental Divide: Bristlecone Pine and Limber Pine as Proxy Data. Doctoral Dissertation Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. Ann Arbor Michigan, Microfilm. Cores are stored at: Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research, University of Arizona, Tucson The site is located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, on a south facing slope of a westward trending ridge below Elingwood Point. The p. aristata specimens were collected to reconstruct annual temperature of the region. The cores were mounted and dated using conventional dendrochronological techniques and measured to the neared 0.01 mm using a Henson computer compatible measuring machine. The cores were analyzed using Verify5 to identify cross-dating and measurement errors. Cores that could not be successfully cross-dated due to breaks and heart rot were eliminated from the chronology.
