Part of a transect of spruce sites sampled to assess the change of growth/climate relationships of spruce with elevation in the Bavarian Forest. Summit site (logged area). Predominantly spruce, with periodic single fir trees. The dating quality of some of these cores is poor due to logging effects in the ring-width series. This site (and others <700 m) also express a summer precipitation signal and have been incorporated into a reconstruction of summer precipitation for the region using the standard chronology: Wilson, R.J.S. A Preliminary Reconstruction of March-August Precipitation for the last 500-years in the Lower Bavarian Forest Region, Germany.
