Purpose of Collection: Climatology - temperature analyses Detrend method: We use a conservative detrending method that includes negative exponential or linear regression curves, stiff splines or straight lines. Cores are stored at the Tree Ring Laboratory, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Palisades, New York. Altitudinal treeline site; There are 2-3 insect defoliation events in this chronology. We used the ARSTAN chronology for our temperature analysis since it models the reduced growth best. The defoliation events are still present to some extent in the ARSTAN chronology. Suuleen Bagtraa means "Last Gasp" in Mongolian. The night before we sampled this site we all heard an animal fighting for its life. It sounded like the animal lost that battle.
