Pederson in Greenbrook Sanctuary in Tenafly, NJ. These data were collected for a dendroecological study of southern temperate trees growing at or near a northern range margin. They are growing on top of the Palisades along the Hudson River on thin soils and in a fairly dense forest with closed-canopy conditions. While the general shade intolerance of this species is considered to be low, detrending of these raw data should be conducted with closed-canopy or forest interior conditions in mind.
