Purpose of Collection: Climatology - precipitation analyses Cores Located at: Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research, University of Arizona Updating of NV060.crn including lengthening of chronology with cross-section samples. Sample size in .crn file is number of trees, not cores. Core indices computed as the ratio of ringwidth to fitted trend line. Core indices averaged to to form tree indices. Tree indices averaged to to form site index. Bi-weight mean used if 6 or more trees in a given year. Otherwise chron computed by arithmetic mean. Residual chron computed likewise, except from autoregressive residuals of core indices. All ringwidth series used in chronology are listed in table below, with sufficient information to allow replication of site chronology from the ringwidths in the .rwl file. This Chronology was merged from ring width series collected in 1984 and 1998. In detrending, an iterative procedure was used to find the most flexible possible smoothing spline that is monotonic non-increasing with a second derivative throughout at least the second half of the series. If such a spline could not be fit to the series, a horizontal line at the ring-width mean was used as the (null) detrending line.
