This file includes the Moroccan Tree-Ring chronologies used in the final multi-proxy NAO reconstruction of Glueck and Stockton (2001). NAOyr refers to the December date given in the reconstruction file. TREEyr is the actual tree-ring record date. In other words, the winter season NAO index value representing Dec 1429-Feb 1430 was derived using year AD 1430 ring width data. This does not represent a lag built into the actual data, it is simply the convention used to maintain standard date notation throughout our study. AFRA refers to Afraskou (32o20'N, 5o00'W, 2500m) and RMZ refers to Ich Ramouz (33o47'N, 4o12'W; 2000m). These Cedrus atlantica tree-ring specimens were collected in 1988 and chronologies were subsequently developed by N. Chbouki and T. Harlan.
